The customers will understand, surely - no one wants a pint while a sprog is shrieking her head off five feet away. And it's not even as if you've got to pretend she's going through a trouble period. They'll all just nod with sympathy.

I'd be willing to ask Cecelia but I've a feeling she'd rather be out in the woods, so long as that's where Brownmiller is.
