You've barely sat down since we heard Voldemort had arrived at Hogwarts. If you're still awake, would you like to join me in the kitchen? I'm making a cup of something soothing (for myself, but you'd be welcome to a cup, too.)

Oh.

Yes, I'm awake. I mean, I think things are settled down now, for the night, anyway. Draco's gone to bed, has Sirius? I suppose a cup of tea would be nice.

Does it seem to you like it's harder and harder to hide here and just read the journals and wait for something to happen?

Yes, Sirius has gone to bed and I think he's even asleep.

It has got harder, I think. Possibly because we've had so many opportunities to see the various ways in which things can go instantly pear-shaped.

It helps, doesn't it, to have someone else who understands exactly what we're up against. I mean, Tim did--I mean, he does, in his way, of course, but...it's not personal to him in quite the same manner. He's not seen it close to, you know, up close and constant.

No, it wouldn't be. He's not seen it close, and while I'm sure he cared about your friends because you cared about your friends, it's not the same as knowing the people he was fretting about.
